Love and money

The Mexican five-hundred peso note serves pretty much like the US twenty. (Today it's equal to $26.) The previous version featured a picture of General Ignacio Zaragoza, who defeated the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, which is now celebrated by gringos drinking way too much Corona.

The current version, though, features everyone's favorite Mexican artist couple: Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.

Given the stormy nature of their marriage, it's probably appropriate that they're on opposite sides of the note, with Diego looking as if he's asking, "What did I do wrong?" and Frida answering, "You know perfectly well," to which Diego retorts, "Oh, like you're Señora Sinless."
