While I was away

Lou sent this photo. Strong winds blew through Campo Turistico #1 and ripped the tops of three palapas. No one was hurt and no property other than the palapas was damaged.

Meanwhile, here in Arizona, a couple of people have expressed interest in following me back down to San Felipe. This photo might influence their decisions.

  1. Sheet happens. Still coming. See you soon!

PS any idea how much it will cost to camp there for say a week? Trying to figure how much currency to convert to pesos to bring.

    1. It sort of depends on how they feel about you and how long you might stay. The standard rate is $15/night, but when we told them we were thinking of staying a few months, they lowered it to $12/night. Then, since we liked the place and the people running it, we mentioned we had some friends who might be coming. Also, we were helping a little around the place, just to have something to fill out time. So they lowered the rate to $10/night. The manager, who doesn't have final say, thought our friends could be grandfathered in at our $10 rate. So it's somewhere in that range. They'll accept dollars or pesos.

    1. Yes. When you come into San Felipe from the north, there's a traffic circle with a big arch monument. Farther on there's another traffic circle after the Calimax market. Take the circle 3/4 of the way around (be sure to observe the stop sign). Follow that road up and over a hill. On the other side of the hill the road curves to the right toward a baseball field. Next to the field, on the left is a sign that says Campo #1. Turn left and follow that road until you come to the campo.

  3. Made it! Looking forward to exploring the area over the next few days. Roberto was very welcoming as was Lou. Good peoples, good hearts.
