Blossoms in winter

On my way from Quartzsite to the Pacific (again) I decided to camp at the BLM area just outside the south entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. Maybe someone can tell me what this flower is.

  1. I tried uploading the photo to my Picture This app, but that didn't give a good answer. Try this tool: http://mywildflowers.com/identify.asp

    1. It might be Mojave Lupine. If not, it's almost certainly a cousin in the genus Fabacae. http://www.americansouthwest.net/plants/wildflowers/lupinus-odoratus.html

  2. Mrs. B found some of that today and looked it up. She came up with Mojave Lupine. It's much smaller in Why.
