Slab City is rather quiet. The occasional vehicle, some wind, a generator, Saturday night music at The Range.
But every sunset the dogs start barking. A couple dozen of them, at least. For about a half hour. I don’t speak canine, so I don’t know whether they’re wishing so long to the sun or if they’re checking in with each other after a long day of dogness.
Then the same happens at sunrise.
