After two years of fighting cancer and heart problems, and with the inability to do the things that gave his life joy and meaning, Lou Brochetti availed himself of New Mexico’s End-of-Life Options law and departed this existence today on his own terms, in his own home, among loving friends. There was crying and laughing and lots of hugging. This good man has left a big hole in many lives.
Lou was a very kind soul. May he wander in peace. Bless your heart for being such a good friend to him and for your loss, Al

Al, having followed you for years, my first comment: my condolences, good sir. I am approaching this denouement, myself.
DeleteThank you for letting us know and may he live eternally in our memories as a fine person and friend,
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteAl, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. But you can take comfort that he had the option to go on his own terms, my mother did that ten years ago and it was a blessing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all that you did for Lou during his illness. He was blessed to have such a great friend to be there with him. Even though Lou was prone to grumble about the state of the world around him, it's my belief that he loved you and valued your friendship and willingness to stick by him.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure all that knew Lou will tell stories about his huge heart for years to come. He was always willing to share his wealth of knowledge about so many things. He also touched many lives with his love of and talent for music. He was a gem of a man and we are so thankful to have been able to share time with him and get to know the person he was when he let his guard down.
I'm sorry for your loss and for the loss of all who knew Lou. I'm glad he got to choose his departure. You are a good friend.

I'm so sorry. I never really got to know Lou but I saw how patient he was with people who were interested in his unique trailer.
ReplyDeleteMan, I'm sorry. I only know Lou from reading these posts but what a fantastic friendship Hope you are doing OK.
ReplyDeleteOur dear Lou is freeđź’“ My appreciation & condolences, Al.
ReplyDeleteAl, I know and appreciate how well you knew Lou and am so glad that you could stay there with him through the end. Lou was a big part of Loretta's and my life for many years, and we will sorely mis him. Lou would come and camp here off and on and it was always fun to have him around. He would help Loretta with food prep and sometimes cook the whole meal. We would always see him first off around breakfast time time then if we were not doing something together during the day we'd be together for the evening grog. Lou did so much during his life, it's hard to imagine so much stuffed into one life.
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, you are always welcome here when you're up our way.
DeleteYou had several shared hobbies. Do some of them for him now that he can't.
I'm sorry to hear this. :(
