What’s the date?
You can tell it’s not yet high season in Quartzsite not only because you can easily find a parking spot at the Tyson Wash vendor tents, and because there are available washers at the laundromat. Even if you hadn’t experienced the lack of congestion “downtown” you’d know it’s still shoulder season because cellular bandwidth isn’t clogged. Hurray for data usage!
Yup. Good time to be there. Wish I was. Snowing here.

It'll be interesting to see. Some years ago I met an olde man and his 50-year-old son at the Gold Rock Ranch C.G. off Ogilby Rd. He told how the desert was FULL in the 80s and 90s with all the families from the big cities in the midwest. They had music jams, dances and card games every night for four months, he said. Not even a remnant remained in 2014.
ReplyDeleteI passed through Quartzsite last January. It wasn't empty, but compared to pre-pandemic, it was low-key.
Elsewhere, like in Kofa, the areas I used to have to myself are now populated.
It would appear the new crowd's not as social as the last generation.
Or not as midwestern, maybe. Different regions behave differently.
