Changes to the changes

You know what? I’m going to stop making any kind of plans beyond what I’ll have for dinner.

The latest monkey wrench is a state of emergency in British Columbia because of forest fires. Lou’s friend George, who lives on Vancouver Island, says it’s best to stay away. Besides, his sailboat, from which we had planned to return Lou’s ashes to the sea, is in dry dock awaiting structural repairs. So that’s postponed until… sometime.

  1. I live up by Lake Chelan. The whole state is covered in smoke, so I'd wait a bit. There were 3 or 4 new fires lit up yesterday, it may get worse.
Van engine transplant: Back in '73 my brother and I put a newer slant 6 in my '69 Dodge A108. So easy, we could work inside the van and pull & install through the side doors. What a dream. I wouldn't even attempt such an operation on the newer vans.
The only pain in the rear: The pilot bushing on the replacement was for an automatic, my rig was a stick
Lying under the van with a grinder and sliding the trans in and out was not fun. Oh well, it felt better to have a younger engine to head out on long trips.
Happy Trails to you and your steed.

  2. Steer clear of the fires, that smoke is bad for your health.
