I’m not a fan of Campbell’s soups. They’re essentially a delivery medium for salt. But I was stocking my larder at Grocery Outlet a while back and there was a good deal on Campbell’s Chunky Steak and Potato soup (The Soup the Eats Like a Meal®) and thought, eh, I could do something with that.
Fast forward a couple of months and I did something with that. I added some dehydrated refried beans. That thickened the broth/gravy and blunted the saltiness a bit. The result was much better.I have some other soup enhancement ideas I’ll try in the future. Rice, lentils, dehydrated mixed veggies, crushed tomatoes…
The Progresso low sodium soups are pretty good as well. Southwest Bean & Vegetable, Chicken & Wild Rice, and Chicken Corn Chowder are worth a try.
ReplyDeleteYes, I prefer Progresso.
