Up early for the first stop on a National Park triple header

The last time I was at White Sands it was a National Monument. Now it’s a National Park. Also, it was sunny the previous visit. This morning it was overcast, making the sands look beige instead of blindingly white. Kind of a moody morning.

  1. Not blinding is good. We could hardly make ourselves look when we were there. Your visit looks calmer.

  2. In case you did not know, there is free boondocking just outside of Oliver Lee State Park gate near you if you need it.

    1. I'll keep that in mind, but it would be sort of a detour for me. I stayed at Oliver Lee several years ago when I had a NM park pass. It's kind of nice. I didn't pay any attention to free nearby camping at the time.
