Seasonal migration

I’m back in my usual winter range, near Yuma AZ, ahead of a cold and wet front sweeping across the West. I’m a little earlier than usual, but that means it’s less crowded. That’ll change come Thanksgiving when the OHV folks swarm over Imperial Dunes and when the snowbird season semi-officially starts.

  1. I gave a lot of thought to Mexico but decided Nahh. Canadian friends who used to winter on an island off the gulf of Florida have been, for the last few year, flying into Merida. They then camp or rent a place along the coast a bit north of the city.

I'm thinking maybe Florida, but Yuma's has lost its appeal...and it's too windy.

Surely there're other places? (I tried Mustang Island in 2010 and didn't care for it or the nearby towns.)

    1. I visited the Texas coast one winter. Too humid, too much rain, about as windy as the desert.

    2. That is a very accurate description of the winter time Texas coast.
