Lou starts to homestead

You know Lou really likes a location when he expands his outdoor space beyond a clothesline and a mat by the door of his trailer. He has decided to stay at Campo Turistico #1 for another three months or so, and today he's filling some planters he scrounged. A palm, succulents, some herbs.

Meanwhile, about the most I can commit to a place is to pay for a certain number of nights and put out my chair.

  1. That's a big commitment. Even in Quartzsite I buy an annual pass so I don't have to commit to any specific dates. :)

  2. Lou's got a plan, good for him. I and many others would like it if you could post a few pictures of Lou's new and improve camper before you part ways. I read every post , keep up the great work. Thanks Bob B.

  3. Speaking of Lou, how's your van holding up? How many miles on it and when and what will you replace it with?

    1. My van is doing fine. It has a little over 200k miles on it and uses just a little oil. Still runs strong, shifts smoothly and tracks straight. I replaced the front brake rotors last month. I'll replace the Rolling Steel Tent with something similar.

  4. just found your blog via RV Sue. Nice job. Having explored some of Baja, I'd recommend heading down MX 5 to Gonzaga Bay. Rancho Grande is a nice campground there. You sign in at the small store on the right as you approach the turn for town.

    1. Yes, I was there in February. Stayed at Casa Grande, Papa Fernandez and Campo Beluga (which I liked the best of the three). Of course, if you want to go farther south, you have to deal with the unpaved/under construction section of highway 5 between Bahia Gonzaga and highway 1, or take highway 3 from San Felipe all the way back to Ensenada.

    1. Jamie Dimon (the guy on camera at the beginning) did the video, not me.
