  1. Alan is that on top off FM Mesa? I meet you up there once. I am heading to Utah in about a week. Tom

  2. There's a dirt road cross the road from that turnout where we met up, slightly back down the hill. There's a campsite just as you pull in, but the road continues south, paralleling the paved road but up on a mesa.

  3. Found it easy. Walked down to the other campsite. Going to explore just southwest Utah now. Have you been to Gooseberry Mesa? If so how's the road going in? Any other suggestions for this area. I am really enjoying this site right now.

    1. I don't know Gooseberry Mesa. Jamie and friends recommended Smithsonian Butte on the south side of the Virgin River. You have to come in from the south, at Apple Valley (the approach from Rockville/Grafton is too gnarly unless you're a Jeeper). Turn north on Main. That's all the directions I have. I haven't been there myself.

    2. Have you been up to Kolob Reservoir? There's camping there. It's at about 8,000 ft. Take Kolob Terrace Road from Virgin, all the way to the end. You pass in and out of the back side of Zion NP.

  4. Went to Kolob many years ago. Will check that out also. Thanks for the help. I do know Jamie well.
