Once every 28 days my solar charge controller automatically runs an "equalization" program. That means it charges my batteries with 15+ volts for a while rather than the usual 14.4V for the absorption cycle and 13.7V for the float cycle. It helps keep the batteries healthy. It gives me that contented feeling I get when I have a fresh oil change, a full tank of gas and good meal.
I wonder if my BlueSky controller does that....my panels seem to always read 14.4 so who knows.....maybe its time to read the manual...
ReplyDeleteMine's a MorningStar MPPT controller.
DeleteLucky you. I've had several days of rain and overcast skies to I'm down to 74% charge. You can bet I'm keeping a close eye on that.
ReplyDeleteCome to where it's sunny. ;^)
DeleteWell, gosh, this is impressive! I wonder if my Blue Skye solar charge controller does that. I don't think so, since I don't recall ever seeing anything above 14.00. That sounds like a great feature to have after what I've been through recently.
ReplyDeleteWell, I did see it run up to 16 recently, but, the controller is broke and I'm running off to Quartzsite early to hopefully get 'er fixed.
