ZAP!

Once every 28 days my solar charge controller automatically runs an "equalization" program. That means it charges my batteries with 15+ volts for a while rather than the usual 14.4V for the absorption cycle and 13.7V for the float cycle. It helps keep the batteries healthy. It gives me that contented feeling I get when I have a fresh oil change, a full tank of gas and good meal.

  1. I wonder if my BlueSky controller does that....my panels seem to always read 14.4 so who knows.....maybe its time to read the manual...

  2. Lucky you. I've had several days of rain and overcast skies to I'm down to 74% charge. You can bet I'm keeping a close eye on that.

  3. Well, gosh, this is impressive! I wonder if my Blue Skye solar charge controller does that. I don't think so, since I don't recall ever seeing anything above 14.00. That sounds like a great feature to have after what I've been through recently.

  4. Well, I did see it run up to 16 recently, but, the controller is broke and I'm running off to Quartzsite early to hopefully get 'er fixed.
