I love the California coast, but it’s almost impossible to find free and legal boondocking. That’s why I depend on the suggestions of FreeCampsites.net users. The pickings are slim along the coast, but there are some gems, like this spot on a ridge overlooking San Luis Obispo.

National Forest, decent (but narrow) dirt road, excellent solar exposure and cell reception, and free.
