Am I going insane?

A weird idea has been forming in my head the past couple of days: intentionally go somewhere seriously cold this winter. Not for long, just a few days or something. Bundle up. Get out in the snow and icy air. Break with winter routine. I don’t have a particular place in mind. There are so many options.

I’d need to get some serious winter outerwear, though. At least a parka. And maybe get a real heater again for the Rolling Steel Tent so I don’t become cryogenically preserved in my sleep.

But maybe I’ll come to my senses at the first hint of chilly weather. I hope I do.

  1. There's a campground with hookups SW of Minneapolis at Mystic Lake Casino that stays open all year with concrete parking pads. You could drive up I-35 then head west to the campground. That would let you be in snow country with the comforts we all prefer to have. https://www.dakotahmeadows.com

  2. Just go way up near where you are. That way it is a short drive back to warmer areas the next day.

  3. Have tire chains and a newer car battery and you'll be fine.

    1. Oh, I know how to do winter. I've lived in northern Utah and central Canada, and went on business trips to snowbound places. The question is why would I ever want to do that again?

    2. Dunno, you'd have to be insane.

  4. I find cold invigorating and enlivening. Don't like heat. Maybe you just want to 'feel' a bit more after your recent experiences?
Besides, to just visit is lovely - to live in it I hear is quite the drag for most.
