Adventures in cheap packaged foods: Twistd Flavor Co. West African Inspired Jollof Rice

Sure, I could cook ordinary rice and then add spices and stuff to make it more interesting—like people all over the world do. Or I could buy it pre-seasoned, probably in ways I couldn’t imagine. So when I saw this jollof rice I thought, yeah, I’ll try that, even though I had no idea how it tasted. The ingredients sounded good, though.

And it was. I’ll buy more. However, it might be too spicy for some people.

I forgot to get a picture of the finished dish, but the water had been absorbed, as with other rice

The package says it’s one serving. That’s true if it’s your only dish. It’s more like two servings if you use it as a side, or if you defile this vegetarian dish by adding some sort of meat.

  2. did you notice that on the label it list vitamin D and then says it has zero percent of it? That is hilarious.
